Sustainability

PhotoWhen Brentwood School was founded forty years ago, the environmental movement was in its infancy. After all, the (first) gas crisis had not yet forced Americans to consider the need for improved mileage in cars, or to turn down the heat in the winter. Catalytic converters were new technology chasing the dream of reduced Los Angeles smog, and Southern California’s thirst for water was growing at a rapid pace.

But all that has changed, and Angelenos—especially those in our students’ age demographic—want to see active steps taken to make the world a greener place. We agree, and have instituted a series of initiatives that will make a difference in the size of the school’s environmental “footprint.”
