Tuition Relief Plan

2007/08 School Year, Grades 7-12

The Brentwood School Tuition Relief Plan is designed to provide some relief from your contractual obligation to pay the full amount due under the Enrollment Agreement if your student does not complete the academic year at Brentwood School. This Plan is required of all parents who do not pay the full tuition and expenses by July 2, 2007; for those parents, the fee for this Plan will be included as described in the finance plan. This Plan is optional for all parents who pay the full tuition and fees by July 2, 2007; parents in this category who wish to participate in the Tuition Relief Plan must check the appropriate box on the Enrollment Agreement, and the fee for this Plan will be reflected in your statement. The fee for this Plan for the 2007-2008 school year is $300.

If your student is withdrawn or dismissed from school after July 2, 2007, the Tuition Relief Plan will provide:

  • A partial refund of tuition and fees, if they were paid in full by July 2, 2007
  • A partial reduction of your financial obligation to pay outstanding tuition and fees, if you have financed that obligation, in which event the reduction will be applied to reduce the principal amount owing under the financing plan, and your remaining payment(s) will be adjusted accordingly.

All claims for tuition relief under this Plan should be made in writing to the school's Director of Finance, with appropriate documentation (e.g., physician certification). Tuition relief will be granted to eligible claimants (determined by the Head of School in his sole discretion) based on one of the three formulas below:

  • Medical Withdrawal 95% of (school days remaining X $23,700)*180
  • Student Disciplinary or Academic Dismissal 70% of (school days remaining X $23,700)*180
  • Other Eligible Reasons (see below) 65% of (school days remaining X $23,700)*180

Other Eligible Reasons include a family relocation and the death of a parent or guardian. Other Eligible Reasons DO NOT include a school closure. If the school is closed as a result of some calamity (such as a flu epidemic or an earthquake that results in extensive physical damage), no tuition relief will be granted under this Plan.

$2,500 of the total $26,200 tuition is a nonrefundable deposit.
