Welcome to the Middle Division: Grades 7-8

What do you see when you visit our Middle Division?

You see students working together in collaborative groups solving real-life challenges together. You see teachers working together on student development using a team approach and a philosophy of teaching our students "where they are." You hear broad, open-ended questions being asked under the umbrella of essential questions and themes. You witness a culture of exploration and discovery as students' view of their place in the world broadens. You see enriched classrooms with student work abundantly displayed. You see students demonstrating ownership in their own learning and knowledge learned through a multitude of modalities. And you witness dedicated faculty who understand and care about emerging adolescents and who model our core values through their own actions and attitudes.

We meet the students' developmental needs!

  • Positive social interaction with adults and peers
  • Structure and clear limits at school
  • Emphasis on competence, hard work, and achievement
  • Creative expression through universal participation in the performing and visual arts
  • Meaningful participation in their families, school, and community
  • Self-definition in a changing time through a Human Development program
