How does the school determine financial need? Hide

The School’s Financial Aid Committee is comprised of six employees with representation from the Upper, Middle, and Lower Divisions. The Committee considers numerous factors in determining need, such as the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS), income tax returns, W-2’s, K-1’s, business tax returns, supplemental information provided by the family, and short-term extenuating circumstances.

How much financial aid may I expect to receive? Hide

Financial circumstances vary and every situation is unique. Given the many variables that affect an award decision, it is impossible to accurately predict a family's contribution based solely on family income.

Is financial aid renewable each year? Hide

Families must reapply each year for financial aid, and as long as a family qualifies for financial aid (as demonstrated by annual aid applications), the school will continue to provide financial assistance. Adjustments for tuition increases and changes in a family’s financial picture will be made if justified by the family’s application.

I am not sure if our family will qualify for financial aid.  Is it worth applying? Hide

Since many factors enter into the determination of financial aid, it is usually best to apply. Families who question whether they would qualify for aid should feel free to consult Donald Winter, the Assistant Head of School, Operations.

How do I apply for financial aid? Hide

Click here or fill out and mail the “Request for Financial Aid” form inside the admissions application. You will receive a copy of the Brentwood School financial aid application as well as the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS). Files of students who are not admitted are destroyed immediately after admission decisions are made.

Please contact Zita Hernandez via email or at 310.889.2653 if you require an additional financial aid packet. The award process cannot be completed without full information from both parents.
