Information on Applying for Financial Aid
Brentwood School’s financial aid budget for Grades K-12 for the 2007-2008 school year exceeds $3 million. This year 145 students are receiving financial aid awards which range in amount from $3,000 to $25,940. Awards are made by the Financial Aid Committee. Please take note of the following:
- Families are required to re-apply each year for financial aid. Subsequent awards will be based on a re-evaluation of the family’s continued financial need.
- In addition to the grant which covers all or a portion of the tuition charge, the school maintains a fund which helps qualified financial aid families cover some of the additional costs of attending a school like Brentwood, such as field trips, retreat-related items, summer school, etc.
- No type of merit aid is awarded as all grants are based on demonstrated financial need as determined by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid. All applicants, including those families applying through ABC and the Alliance, must complete the Parentsí Financial Statement and a supplemental financial aid application form. In addition, families should submit copies of their 2006 and 2007 federal tax returns.
- In reviewing each financial aid application, many factors beside overall family income are taken into account. In the case of divorced or separated parents, the income of both natural parents, and in some cases step-parents, will be considered. In most instances, if one parent works and a second parent does not earn any income, income for the non-working parent will be imputed when a financial aid award is determined.
- Families considering filing an application for financial aid should carefully review the financial aid policies of the school. These policies will be included in the packet you are asked to request by returning the “Intent to Apply for Financial Aid Form” below.
