Alumni Summer Opportunities 2016

THE GOAL OF THE STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE OUR UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS AND COLLEGE-AGE ALUMNI WITH REAL LIFE WORK EXPERIENCES IN A WIDE RANGE OF PROFESSIONAL SETTINGS—ARCHITECTURE, BUSINESS, ENTERTAINMENT, FINANCE, HOSPITALITY, JOURNALISM, MARKETING AND PR, MEDIA, MEDICINE, NON-PROFITS, RADIO AND TV, TECHNOLOGY, AND WEB-BASED COMPANIES.

This program was established during the 2006-07 school year as a means to provide our rising juniors, seniors, and graduating seniors with some meaningful “real world” work experiences and exposure to various careers. Another goal was to give our students the tools to create a resume as well as some invaluable experience interviewing.

In 2006-07 eight internships were offered; this past summer there were 52 students placed in 38 different internships. Fifteen of the internships were offered, for the second time, to our college-age alumni.

The feedback from both internships sponsors and the interns themselves continues to be very positive. With most of the sponsors from this past summer wishing to be onboard again and with new interest expressed by some of our parents and alumni, the program is certain to continue its dynamic growth.

Key to promoting a good internship culture is giving interns work that adds real value to the group [and] taking time to answer all the interns' questions..." —PJ Fielding '09

Community Internship

Revel is looking for a highly-motivated, talent-rich candidate with entrepreneurial appetites who’s excited by working alongside hugely successful ‘best of breed’ in the tech/startup world. An intimate and close-knit company comprised of uber-successful individuals with outsized skills and reputations, Revel’s sole mission is to disrupt, revolutionize and forever change the way we interact with time, events and our calendars.

We’re changing the way people discover new possibilities and activities, and plan their days. A little bit calendar, a little bit Tinder and a whole lotta magic sauce.

This is not your average ‘app.’ Get in on the ground level of a “movement” that will shape-shift people’s lives and where your contribution will directly impact and be seen by many 100’s of thousands of people each day. . Imagine boarding a plane, sitting next to someone who opens their Revel app and you see them interacting with your work.

We’re a startup, we’re scrappy, and only want someone with passion, tenacity, a fierce talent and attitude.

Not a paid position… today. As we grow and if it’s a great fit, ideally you’ll grow with us. College credit is offered for college students.

Our team – founder, employees, interns – are all on fire about creating a new mobile-first app that enriches people’s lives, albeit congregating and collaborating in a relaxed work environment on the Venice / Santa Monica border.
Our team hails from Yelp, Google, TextPlus and leading SaaS enterprises, and anyone who comes on board will be working alongside the group.

Please attach a brief resume to your application and include your fave band, an artist or designer you admire, and any relevant materials to wow us.

Main Responsibilities:
This position is to be a part of the Community Team at Revel. The community team is made up of young, hard-working people who all share a passion for the product that we're helping to create. The primary role for this position is creating and maintaining the content on our app. We're dealing with events here, so each intern will be assigned specific calendars that they must be able to keep up to date on the app. This means scraping the data from the online website into a document, and then importing it onto the platform.

Revel will also be hosting sponsored events, where community interns will be asked to participate and help promote Revel.

There's lots of hard work to be done, but the end result will hopefully be something none of us expected.
