Student Government & Leadership
Both formal and informal leadership opportunities abound at Brentwood School through leading a group or activity, heading up a community service drive or project, sponsoring a Student Life Center (SLC) evening event or daytime tournament, serving as a Peer Leader, being selected as an editor or team captain, or being elected to an official student government position. Each class elects a president, vice-president, treasurer, three Activity Council representatives, and two SLC representatives. In addition, each spring our 8th – 11th graders elect four Senior Prefects (our top student body officers) with our Senior Class President assuming the role of fifth Prefect. Our Head of School meets with each of the four newly elected prefects and names one of them to serve as Head Prefect. Prefect candidates must meet certain requirements and attend a series of meetings over a six-month period at which different aspects of leadership are discussed as well as what is involved in being a prefect. Our prefects preside at our weekly School Senate and Activity Council meetings, where events like Homecoming and Semi-formal are planned and student life issues are discussed.
