Summer Opportunities

Though summer does provide students with some “down time” to relax, have fun, and, hopefully, pursue some pleasure reading, they are also very fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in a variety of summer experiences. The Director of Student Life has compiled a resource guide for use by parents and students in which many special programs – academic, travel (both domestic and international), and community service – are highlighted. Each year representatives come to campus to meet with students at lunch or after our weekly assembly, introducing their programs and answering students’ questions. Another option available to students is to enroll in Brentwood School’s own summer session.

Summer Internship Program

Through a program established during the 2006-07 school year, the school offers an array of both paid and voluntary summer internships (a total of 15 during the summer of 2007) for rising juniors and seniors. Interested students complete an application and are interviewed by the Director of Student Life and their Class Dean. Students have the opportunity to gain “hands on” experience in such fields as finance, marketing, medicine, publishing, television, and laboratory science.
