Advisory

During each year Upper Division students work closely with an advisor. In most cases students have a say in who their advisors are. Every full-time faculty member and administrator serves as an advisor for approximately ten students. The current trend is for a student to have the same advisor year after year. Although students meet formally with their advisor and fellow advisees once or twice each week, advisors and advisees also interact informally, going out to lunch together or sharing leisure time in each other’s company. Although these relationships may differ, the main roles of an advisor are to monitor the academic progress of the student and to keep attuned to personal or family circumstances that might affect the student’s performance and experiences at Brentwood School. In addition, advisors often act as liaisons between parents and the school, working with the Upper Division Director and Class Deans to arrange conferences when necessary or requested.
