A Commitment to Our Families

Brentwood School believes that, in order to deliver a vibrant education, our school must be small enough to build upon individual and collective curiosity, yet large enough to offer breadth and depth of opportunity for all students. This Education Master Plan outlines our future and ensures we will continue to fulfill this commitment.

At its core, our Education Master Plan is about the student experience and continuing to be good neighbors for the next 30 years. The plan encompasses both our East and West Campuses. It allows our school to responsibly add, replace, and upgrade our facilities gradually over time, while remaining within the original footprint of our property. It also enables us to increase student diversity and enrich our programs while providing transparency and certainty for our neighbors.

East Campus

The key vision for the future of the East Campus is to create a new Middle School for our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders while upgrading existing facilities. The Education Master Plan is to be implemented over time in 4 phases. The whole project will be built within the existing school property, taking advantage of the natural topography of the deep arroyo that protects the community from impacts of operation and construction. In addition, the plan improves our transportation, queuing, and arrival sequence. It also allows for our first enrollment increase in 23 years, while maintaining a hard cap on peak hour vehicle trips.

In Summary:

No expansion of existing 7.5-acre campus and project is limited to land that the school currently owns
Will occur in 4 well-spread phases through the year 2041, with periods of rest in between
Two existing buildings would be removed to accommodate new or replacement facilities. Including:
- Two new buildings
- Replacement of two buildings
- Renovate/expand two buildings proposed for Grades 6-12 academic program
Net increase of approximately 244,000 square feet of building space, mostly built into hillsides of the deep arroyo. This is the total square footage for the entire Master Plan after all four phases, at the end of 30 years.
Enrollment would increase by 265 students over 4 years to accommodate the relocated 6th Grade and small increases in Grades 7-12.
No East Campus enrollment increase for the past 23 years. The new 30 year amended and restated Land Use Covenant stipulates no enrollment number increase again for three decades.

West Campus

The West Campus has provided a Kindergarten through 6th Grade education with a 300-student cap since its opening in 1995. Moving forward, with no change in enrollment, the elementary school will serve Kindergarten through 5th Grade. The modest plan will take place in two phases that include one new building and replacement buildings for administrative and educational facilities.

No expansion of the existing 3.5 acre campus
Sixth Grade relocates to the East Campus
One new building and 2 replacement buildings proposed for Grades K-5 academic program
Removal of 7 existing small buildings
Net increase of approximately 32,000 square feet of building space. This is the total square footage for the entire Master Plan, after both phases.
No increase in current enrollment level of 300 students
