UD Debaters Compete in State Championships

Upper Division debaters competed at the State Championships this past weekend with senior Naila D., junior Max S., and three freshmen, Jacob C., Sabrina S., and Jackson L. Brentwood had more students qualify for the State Championships than any other school in the state with five competitors. After a long weekend, we had a VERY successful showing: Max S. made it all the way to the semifinals and placed 4th in the entire state of California. Naila D. placed top 20 and Jackson L. placed top 32. Congratulations and thank you for representing Brentwood so well!!

Middle Division Debate Team Wins 2nd Straight National Championship

For the second year in a row, the Middle Division Debate Team captured its second National Championship title. To even qualify for this prestigious event is very difficult; to win twice is unprecedented. Fifty-two schools and 290 students from all over the country competed in a 12-hour competition with the final public debate pitting Brentwood's team (Carson H., Danielle S., and Lily S.) against the top team from Pegasus Middle School in Huntington Beach, CA. With a raucous audience of over 500 people, a three-judge panel unanimously declared Brentwood victorious after the debaters successfully defended that tax increases are good for America. It was the largest tournament the team had ever attended...

Aerie Yearbook Wins National Award

At a ceremony last weekend in Seattle, the 2010/11 Aerie Yearbook was honored with a Pacemaker Award by the National Scholastic Press Association. Brentwood was one of only 20 schools to win the award, which makes last year's yearbook one of the top 20 yearbooks in the country. This is the second time in four years that the Brentwood yearbook has been honored with this award and only the third time in Brentwood's 40-year history...
