The third annual BCIL Symposium kicked off Thursday morning on the East Campus, featuring over 100 diverse projects from BCIL-designated courses, class projects, independent studies, and other BCIL programs. Students from grades K-12 showcased a wide range of work, from research to creative prototypes for problem-solving ideas to awareness campaigns. The Symposium allows the students to discuss and exchange knowledge, celebrate innovation, and learn about ongoing opportunities at the BCIL.
Many Paths to Explore
Brentwood School students can participate in all the things that capture their imagination. There is room to explore and discover. Scholars, athletes, artists, activists, inventors, aspiring leaders — students with a wide range of interests and talents — all find a home here. And many take deep interest in several areas, including some they had never considered before Brentwood.

Let’s give another round of applause to our champions! This week, the Athletics Department held a banner ceremony to unveil the newest additions to Brentwood School’s long list of athletic accomplishments. In the final assembly of the year, Upper School students gathered while Athletic Director Dana Vasquez highlighted the fencing, girls basketball, and boys tennis teams. Afterward, fencing and girls basketball each pulled a string to unravel the new banners hanging above, which will be displayed in the East Campus gym for years to come.
The cast of the Upper School musical, Chicago, had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform their rendition of “Razzle Dazzle” at the Hollywood Pantages Theater last Sunday during the Jerry Herman Awards ceremony. This regional musical theater competition honors excellence in Southern California high schools and sends two students every year to the National High School Musical Theater Awards, known as the Jimmy’s, on Broadway in New York City. Think Tony Awards, but for high school.
Remarkable Potential
The learning experience at Brentwood is a journey of inspiration and curiosity, guided by teachers who are expert in their fields — and expert at motivating young minds to learn with enthusiasm. Students engage deeply with material, think critically and creatively, and prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
Values in Action
A Brentwood education goes well beyond academic achievement. We guide our students to grow in integrity, self-understanding, resilience, and leadership. The school defines and communicates its Core Values, which permeate daily life and help build character. One example is our Lower School composting program, led by our 1st graders to keep food out of our landfills and provide nutrient-rich soil for use on the West Campus. Read more
Innovative Leadership
By continuing to explore and evolve, students develop into leaders. Nowhere is the spirit of possibility more clear than in the Belldegrun Center for Innovative Leadership, a signature program that motivates students — from kindergarten through 12th grade — to ponder feasible solutions to real-world problems.
