Head Athletic Trainer/ATC

Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is seeking applications from qualified candidates interested in the position of Head Athletic Trainer/ATC. This is a 12-month position with a workload that can vary greatly during the course of the academic year.

The principal responsibilities include:

  • Prevention, assessment, and treatment of athletic injuries
  • Providing athletic training coverage to home competitions, away football games, and playoff contests whenever possible
  • Administering first-aid healthcare to middle and upper school students, faculty, and staff
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations and maintains NATA and CPR certification in accordance with those institutions
  • Collaborate with injured athletes' physician when needed
  • Refer athletes for further evaluation
  • Run diagnostic Baseline Concussion Tests for contact athletes
  • Tracking CPR certifications for Athletic Coaches
  • Responsible for supplying water to all practices on campus and to both home and away teams during home competitions
  • Maintaining a budget and inventory for athletic training supplies and equipment
  • Providing sports teams with a first aid kit and Emergency Release Authorization forms
  • Submitting insurance claim forms for injuries treated by a physician
  • Acting as First Aid team leader for Emergency Operations
  • Supervising Assistant Athletic Trainer
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Senior Administrative Team

The Head Athletic Trainer should:

  • Possess a detail-oriented approach to work and outstanding organizational skills
  • Have excellent communication skills including writing and listening
  • Be collaborative and flexible with a genuine enthusiasm for working with colleagues
  • Cultivate an equitable and diverse school community

In addition, a candidate should possess the following qualities and attributes:

  • Discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential health issues
  • Sense of humor, warmth of personality, and energy
  • Be a team player
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • A Bachelor's degree is required with advanced certification in Athletic Training
  • Prior athletic training and/or school experience preferred
