Members of Middle School Service Leadership—7th and 8th graders who applied for and were selected to join this group dedicated to working within and beyond the Brentwood School community—traveled on Tuesday to Gratts Primary Center, a Para Los Niños school. The team created colorful buttons with inspiring messages for TK through 1st graders and spent time with them playing games, reading books, practicing math, and assisting teachers. A partnership initiated years ago with the "Eaglets" has blossomed into life-changing experiences for our "Eagles." The Service Leadership students are brainstorming new ways to support Para Los Niños and are looking forward to the next visit with their new friends. And they had wonderful things to say about the experience...
Sienna N. '23: "This field trip was an enlightening experience I'll never forget. I made a true connection with the kids and it was extremely rewarding to help out the hardworking teachers."
Rahul Y. '23: "I loved working with the students at Para Los Niños, as well as learning more about the center and how the local community benefits from it!"
Alana K. '23: "Interacting with the Para Los Niños kids face to face had an incredibly meaningful impact on me...I felt happy that I could use the knowledge I have developed at Brentwood to help the children enjoy their education. Throughout the whole trip, I could not stop smiling. The joy the kids brought to the campus brightened each classroom and hallway. I hope to go back soon and continue to work with the kids on improving their math and English skills."
Neda S. '24: I personally loved playing and helping the children. They were so cute, and it felt good to be able to help out. I was happy to see how excited the children were when we arrived.
