A 10th Grade English class has been working in collaboration with the BCIL on a project entitled "Covid-19: Remembered." Students read the novel Homegoing and explored the many ways in which the reporting and recording of history tends to be reductive, often excluding voices of those who are less powerful. Trying to disrupt this pattern, students are tasked with envisioning a memorial or monument that calls attention to the multifaceted, dynamic experience of the COVID-19 crisis. One part of the project includes presenting their monument ideas to faculty on the BCIL Collaborative and receiving feedback on their proposed solution and call to action. In order to prepare students practiced the BCIL Core Leadership skill of becoming adept communicators through a lesson on crafting and delivering persuasive presentations.
