El Nido Volunteers at the VA
By Shirley Blake, Director of Communications

On Sunday, April 15, several members of El Nido volunteered at the Big Sunday Veterans Dinner event. When we arrived, there was a lively crowd of volunteers and Veterans from different cities, including San Diego. We sat together and wrote letters to soldiers and spoke with the Veterans. Then came dinner time. All hands on deck, working side by side with other volunteers, we served a delicious dinner to the Veterans and volunteers. There were several Middle School students present, and with each bread roll served, they said: "Thank you for your service." Such a touching gesture. More music, followed by trivial pursuit games and a lot of laughter, and then clean up! It was a wonderful afternoon, and whenever asked where we came from, we proudly replied: "El Nido, Brentwood School!!"
