Why are there so many transportation rules?
How can I avoid afternoon traffic when I pick up my child at Brentwood?
Use our extensive network of buses (please!). Our school bus program makes pick-up away from campus convenient and helps you avoid the congestion near Barrington and Chayote. Monday-Thursday, buses depart at 3:35 p.m. and 6 p.m., and on Friday at 2:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Zoom in on the map below to identify bus stops that may be convenient for your family. Our small (nine-person) Westwood Shuttle leaves five minutes later.
NOTE: “Express stop” means the bus goes directly from that location to school; it is the closest stop to the East Campus. We strongly encourage all East Campus families to drop off/pick up there rather than fighting traffic to campus in the morning and afternoon.
Can my child walk to school?
Yes! And you can use the Parent/Guardian Directory in Eagle Eye to help you identify walking partners in the neighborhood. Families whose students walk to school still must complete the Transportation Plan.
How early can a West Campus student arrive at school?
What if I decide to change my family's overall Transportation Plan?
My EC student is hungry before/after school. Can’t I just drop off/pick up in the Village so they can get a snack?
Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding “no!”
Our CUP is crystal clear: Students may not be dropped off or picked up on Barrington Place or along any of the nearby streets between San Vicente Blvd. and Sunset Blvd., including Brentwood Village, the dog park, post office, and the Barrington Rec Center.

I also have a West Campus student. Can they take the Campus-to-Campus bus in the morning?

Please contact the Transportation Manager at mobility@bwscampus.com for more information. Children in kindergarten through 3rd grade may not take the Campus-to-Campus bus.

NOTE: Students may not be dropped off or picked up on Barrington Place or along any of the nearby streets between San Vicente Blvd. and Sunset Blvd., including Brentwood Village, the dog park, post office, and the Barrington Rec Center.
Who assigns student parking?
The Public Safety Department is responsible for assigning and overseeing student parking. Please contact Bernardo Arabalo at barabalo@bwscampus.com for any student parking questions.
How do I handle a last-minute carpool “emergency”?
For an East Campus parent-driven carpool that is disrupted at the last minute, the carpool driver should do the following:
- Modify your departure time so that you arrive on campus prior to 7:25 a.m.
- If the disruption occurs without enough lead time to arrive on campus prior to 7:25 a.m., then the carpool driver should drop off at the bus stop nearest East Campus on any of the routes for “express” transportation to campus. (link to the map of all the “express” routes)
On the West Campus, if you have a carpool that is disrupted at the last minute, the carpool driver should modify your departure time so that you arrive on campus prior to 7:25 a.m.
In the event that none of these options is possible, please send an email to mobility@bwscampus.com. We appreciate and understand occasional carpool disruptions, but will need to implement consequences when/if last minute carpool disruptions become a recurring pattern

What constitutes an "extreme hardship" to qualify for a parking exception?
In rare instances, student drivers may qualify for an extreme hardship. Student drivers can apply for an exception to the carpool requirement only if they have an extreme hardship or an extraordinary circumstance. Simply being a newly licensed driver with a vehicle is not sufficient. The following are examples of circumstances that do NOT qualify as extreme hardships:
-
Our new car does not fit four students and their backpacks.
-
We have to drop off children at different schools in the morning.
-
My child has to go to work right after school.
-
My child has to go to a tutor right after school.
-
My child does volunteer work after school.
-
My child participates in a club sport before or after school.
-
We live too far to participate in a carpool, or there are no other Brentwood School students living in our area.
What is a fully licensed student driver?
A fully licensed student driver is a child who has had their license for a full year. Please see below from DMV CA:
During the first 12 months, a minor cannot:
- Drive between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Transport passengers under 20 years unless accompanied by a licensed:
- parent or guardian
- California driver 25 years old or older
- certified driving instructor

Modify your departure time to arrive on campus before 7:25 a.m.
If this is not possible, please email mobility@bwscampus.com for guidance. We understand occasional carpool disruptions when they are not a recurring pattern.
