As alumni over the decades can attest, Brentwood provides exceedingly strong preparation for the rigors of higher education. As they've shown through their diverse careers, it also provides the foundation for lives of meaningful achievement after college.

Our College Counseling programming is comprehensive and personalized. As Upper School students prepare for the transition to life beyond Brentwood School, they receive thoughtful, individual, and professional guidance from the school's experienced college guidance team. Through parent/guardian coffees, evening events, and one-one-one meetings, counselors help students grow in self-understanding and recognize the full range of college choices available so they can find a school that represents a strong, match for their goals and needs.

Reaching Beyond the Familiar

As the dust settles from Decision Day on May 1, high school seniors around the world have now committed to colleges, and for Brentwood seniors, decisions followed a long and deliberate search and selection process.

Statement of Philosophy

We offer a student-centered, individualized program allowing students to find their right fit. The ultimate goal is that students become independent and self-reliant with a greater understanding of who they are. This is a developmental process, and students need our supportive team approach throughout their high school career, with guidance appropriate to their own developmental stage and grade level. While the process is not predictable, our hope is that every student will feel supported throughout their college preparation process.

Juniors Explore East Coast Colleges
by Brook Wolcott, Associate Director of College Counseling

Thirty-eight members of our Class of 2026, along with four Brentwood School chaperones, spent their first week of spring break visiting college campuses along the East Coast. As our junior class is stepping into the depths of their college search process, this trip was designed to introduce students to colleges and universities of different sizes, settings, and campus cultures to help them identify the characteristics they find appealing in a college experience — as well as the characteristics they’d like to avoid.
