As alumni over the decades can attest, Brentwood provides exceedingly strong preparation for the rigors of higher education. As they've shown through their diverse careers, it also provides the foundation for lives of meaningful achievement after college.
Our College Counseling programming is comprehensive and personalized. As Upper School students prepare for the transition to life beyond Brentwood School, they receive thoughtful, individual, and professional guidance from the school's experienced college guidance team. Through parent/guardian coffees, evening events, and one-one-one meetings, counselors help students grow in self-understanding and recognize the full range of college choices available so they can find a school that represents a strong, match for their goals and needs.
Reaching Beyond the Familiar
As the dust settles from Decision Day on May 1, high school seniors around the world have now committed to colleges, and for Brentwood seniors, decisions followed a long and deliberate search and selection process.
So how did they reach their decisions? Our approach to college counseling begins with self-discovery...
Statement of Philosophy
We offer a student-centered, individualized program allowing students to find their right fit. The ultimate goal is that students become independent and self-reliant with a greater understanding of who they are. This is a developmental process, and students need our supportive team approach throughout their high school career, with guidance appropriate to their own developmental stage and grade level. While the process is not predictable, our hope is that every student will feel supported throughout their college preparation process.
Our counselors know the students well. They prioritize personal connections and are easily accessible — students regularly schedule their own meetings to ask questions or just to check in. With a breadth of expertise among them, our counselors support students interested in international schools, industry-specific programs, arts, STEM, and more.
