Summer Internship Program

Learn more...Summer Internship Program 2019

The goal of the Summer Internship Program is to provide our Upper School students and college-age alumni with real life work experiences in a wide range of professional settings—architecture, business, entertainment, finance, hospitality, journalism, marketing and PR, media, medicine, non-profits, radio and TV, technology, and web-based companies.

In early spring, all rising juniors, seniors, and soon-to-be-graduates are eligible to apply for these internships, though some do specify an age restriction. Half of these positions are voluntary, while the other are paid and sponsored by current or past Brentwood parents and alumni. The program started small with eight internship positions offered; that number has grown to over 60. Students gain the invaluable experience of completing an application, in which they are asked to articulate their reasons for seeking a particular internship and what they hope to gain from the experience, putting together a resumé, and being interviewed. In the end, it is the perspectives that our students gain about themselves, about their personal strengths and weaknesses, and about what working in a professional environment entails that are the most valuable aspects of our ever-growing summer internship program.
