Bring your own MacBook Program (BYOM)

All 6th-12th grade students participate in our 1:1 Bring Your Own MacBook (BYOM) Program, which requires every incoming student to have a MacBook for daily use on campus.

MacBook To-Do List

Students find that MacBooks are a useful tool for completing their work in and out of the classroom. MacBooks also allow teachers to work with students in class to meet the educational technology goals of our program. Whether using their MacBook to access a digital textbook, collaborate with peers, conduct research, or code in a computer science class, students will find MacBooks versatile. They enrich the students’ learning experience.

For the 2025-26 school year, families of students entering 6th grade or new to Brentwood School have the opportunity to purchase a MacBook through the school's lease-to-own program. Through this program, families may pay for the computer over an 8-month period, interest free. Details on pricing will come in Spring of 2025.

We strongly encourage purchasing your student’s new MacBook through Brentwood School because it includes the Apple Care+ for Schools warranty (see below), only available through school purchases.

Students receiving financial support who purchase their MacBook through Brentwood School will receive the same discount percentage that is outlined in their financial support agreement (Apple Care+ for Schools warranty included).

Order placement emails go out in the spring, and MacBooks are available for pickup in August.

Please note: MacBooks purchased through the school prior to the 2022-23 school year did not include Apple Care+.

AppleCare+ for Schools - MacBook Air (no service fees)

Normally, a Mac comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. But AppleCare+ for Schools extends your coverage — to three years for Middle School and four years for Upper School, from your AppleCare+ for Schools purchase date. It also adds up to two incidents of accidental damage protection per year, plus 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone.

Please read more details about the Apple Care+ for Schools warranty.

For the 2024-25 school year, students will need a MacBook with a minimum of the following:

  • 2020 Apple M1 chip or newer

  • at least 8GB Ram

  • at least 256GB Hard drive

  • able to run MacOS Sonoma
