7th Graders Take a Field Trip in Virtual Reality

Thanks to the use of VR headsets donated by PlanetBravo, 7th graders took a field trip to the interior of cells in their study of Cell Biology. These computers are equipped with very powerful graphics cards that allow students to experience virtual realms at the highest possible quality and frame rate. An immersive experience like this is the most perfect way to cap off and anchor what is learned in school. Here's what teachers and students had to say about the experience:

"In 7th Grade science, we usually focus on completing a Cell City Project every year; however, thanks to [Middle School Science Teacher] Mr. Kumar, 7th graders were taken into the virtual world of the cell. Here, in this virtual world, they got an immersive experience as they got up close to the different organelles that can be found in a eukaryotic cell—a very interesting way to wrap up to the Cell Biology Unit that was just completed." —Rachel Gosine-Smith, Middle School Science

"The virtual world was really exciting because of how it let me explore the anatomy of a cell. We walked on microtubules and saw how a virus attacks a blood cell. It was really exciting!" —Lucas G. '24
