As part of our annual celebration of National Poetry Month, members of our Upper School community gathered at a reading on April 23 sponsored by amaranth and the Library. Students and teachers read poems from a variety of time periods and countries, and everyone enjoyed delicious desserts provided by amaranth. I am sure that those in attendance would agree with our current U.S. Poet Laureate, Tracy K. Smith, who writes that "poetry surprises and deepens our sense of the ordinary. Poetry tells us the the world is full of wonder, revelation, consolation and meaning."
