Community of Caring
Our teachers work with skill and intent to nurture not only students' academic progress, but also their social and emotional growth.
In the Lower School, students meet weekly in small groups to explore topics such as Brentwood School's Core Values, sportsmanship, conflict resolution, and inclusion. Carefully planned advisory programs in Middle and Upper School pair students with faculty mentors and weekly Community Time gatherings create a forum to reflect on emotional intelligence, equity and inclusion, ethics, and more.
National School of Character
Our Lower School has earned the distinction of National School of Character since 2011. Students meet weekly for Community of Caring time where they discuss conflict resolution, inclusion/exclusion, problem solving, sportsmanship, the core values, and the honor code. These weekly discussions provide the children a forum to present questions or concerns, modeling open and effective communication.
