Brentwood School's longstanding partnership with the VA helps Veterans. The school provides extensive services that Veterans rely on, from a daily shuttle around the West LA VA complex and a full athletic facility with trainers to numerous classes, thousands of meals, and scholarships for children of Veterans — all due to the in-kind services provided under the school's lease. The rent Brentwood School pays for its 22-acre lease is required by law to stay local and be used for priorities at the West LA campus, including housing and emergency shelter, construction, maintenance, and renovation.

The VA has repeatedly underscored the value of its lease with the school, which complies with the West LA Leasing Act and was approved by local and national authorities. Brentwood School, the VA, and many, many Veterans benefit from this partnership.

The VA’s mission is enormous, and VA officials have stated publicly that it cannot achieve its mission without community partners. Brentwood School is proud to be one of them.

“Brentwood School is uniquely positioned to offer veterans and their families on the West LA campus substantial opportunities for physical recreation, health and wellness, education, and vocational training as well as direct community service and increased revenue. As such, the Committee is supportive of VA continuing the Department’s long-standing community partnership with the Brentwood School...”

— Congressional Record, U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Veterans Affairs, on the Los Angeles Homeless Veterans Leasing Act of 2016

Of the West LA VA’s nearly 400-acre campus, the 22 acres leased by Brentwood School are used for athletic facilities that are shared by Veterans and students. All of Brentwood School's non-athletic facilities (including academic buildings) are on land owned by the school, purchased from Urban Military Academy in 1972.
